GX6605S HW203 Hardware Version Changer
Inspect a supported BIN header, change its three-character hardware ID suffix and download a separate copy. Your selected file is processed locally by this tool.
1. Select your firmware
One non-empty .bin file, maximum 4 MiB (4,194,304 bytes).
3. Review changes and download
Download modified BINThe original file stays unchanged. Changing the input or selecting another file clears the previous download.
How to use the GX6605S HW203 version changer
- Check your receiver’s full model and board identification. Save a backup of its original firmware.
- Select a matching firmware BIN file. The tool checks two known header locations and displays the candidate suffix and byte offset.
- Enter exactly three digits, such as 001 or 025. Enable letters only when your documented build requires them.
- Review the compatibility notice, then create a modified copy.
- Inspect the changed-byte report and download the new file. This is not approval to flash it: confirm board support and integrity with the provider first.
Supported header pattern and limits
This implementation checks for the ASCII marker 02. followed by three alphanumeric characters at byte locations 0x1F020 or 0x2F020. It changes only the following three suffix bytes in a copy. A marker match alone cannot prove that a file belongs to a GX6605S receiver. Files with no match or matches at both locations are rejected rather than guessed. Other layouts, compressed headers and encrypted firmware are not supported.
The interface labels the suffix as HW203.00.xxx for this GX6605S workflow; that prefix is not independently authenticated from the file. It does not convert ALI3510C or Sunplus 1506 firmware. A receiver’s “wrong upgrade file” message may have causes that changing an ID cannot fix.
Frequently asked questions
Is my firmware uploaded to Sat Guru?
No. This tool reads the selected file into browser memory and creates a local download. It has no firmware upload endpoint. The surrounding blog may still load its usual advertising and analytics.
Does it update or validate checksums?
No. Only the selected three ID bytes are edited. If a build requires checksum repair or signature validation, use a format-specific, trusted workflow instead.
Why is my file rejected?
The file may be empty, too large, a different format, missing the expected header pattern, or contain ambiguous candidate headers. Renaming a file to BIN will not make it compatible.
Will this fix PTV Sports HD or weak signal?
This tool edits an ID only. It does not change satellite reception, channel access, signal strength or guarantee any channel works.
